The HS 500 category is for steel with a nominal hardness of 500 BHN, designed for more demanding wear applications. Engineering specifications sometimes refer to steel in this category as AR 500. A balanced combination of chemistry, welding, forming and impact values results in a heavy-duty wear plate that exhibits both hardness and strength. HS 500 is an optimal solution for mining, transportation, forestry and construction applications.

AlgoTuf 500 is designed for applications that require extremely high abrasion resistance. Made by Algoma Steel in Canada, this 500 HBW material is a well-known abrasion-resistant product for mining and other highly abrasive industrial applications.
